In the early 80's many of us had the pleasure of playing the adventure platformer 'Montezuma's Revenge' on the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Apple II, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Sega Master System and even the ZX Spectrum (as Panama Joe). It combined treasure hunting, lots of rooms, puzzle solving and deadly traps and enemies that needed to be avoided almost as if you were playing as Indiana Jones himself. But now once again we look towards a new game in that style, as Collectorvision Games has announced Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan for modern systems!
BOSTON, Mass., Apr. 1, 2018 – Greyborn Studios, creators of Luna and the Moonling, announce shifting all development focus exclusively to the Commodore 64 platform. After much consideration Greyborn Studios has made the decision to make games exclusively for the C64. This will include porting their current game, Luna and the Moonling, to this popular and long-established platform effective immediately.“After thinking hard about our studio’s focus of re-imagining classic gameplay into new experiences, we figured why not take that to the next level and have our games running on the actual retro-hardware that so inspires us?” said Scott Blinn, CEO & Creative Director of Greyborn Studios. “Once we have dominated gaming on the C64, we are even looking to expand onto consoles such as the Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and Intellivision. There is even talk of the Telstar, though we have some technical issues to work out there first,” Blinn concluded.“This is a very exciting move for me personally,” said Michael Ryan, CTO & Technical Director of Greyborn Studios. “We can now build more value for our studio by creating our own next-gen 8-bit game engine. It also will help our artists conform to a more retro-style which should also save us money. Their artwork has been looking a way too nice and things like normal maps and polygons have been a big distraction for us,” Ryan said. You can see some teaser screenshots (in full 320×200 resolution glory) from an early prototype of the port in progress that were included with the press release:Luna and the Moonling is currently at a reduced price of 50% off while in Early Access and can be purchased on Steam for a limited time before moving to the C64: http://store.steampowered.com/app/577360/Luna_and_the_MoonlingAbout Greyborn StudiosGreyborn Studios LLC is an independent game developer founded in 2016 by award-winning game industry veterans.
